Signs of aging like loose skin, creases and wrinkles are some of the most common cosmetic complaints among both women and men as they age. While there are a number of surgical procedures that can address these concerns, many people hope to find a solution that is not quite as involved or expensive as surgery. Enter FaceTite, sometimes referred to as the nonsurgical facelift.
Here, we’ll break down the differences and similarities between FaceTite and surgical facelifts to help you determine if a nonsurgical facelift could be right for you.
A facelift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, tightens underlying muscles and repositions the remaining tissue to create a more youthful look. It requires incisions, anesthesia and a recovery period.
FaceTite, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten skin and stimulate collagen production. It involves tiny incisions, a local anesthetic and a specialized probe that delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin to achieve a more effective skin-tightening result than other superficial nonsurgical devices.
There are several similarities and a few key differences between FaceTite and a facelift.
One of the biggest advantages of FaceTite is that it doesn’t require surgery, general anesthesia or extensive downtime. While most people plan to rest for a day or two after their FaceTite procedure, facelift recovery can take weeks.
Additionally, the FaceTite procedure itself is much quicker than a facelift. Most FaceTite treatments take about an hour, while a full facelift can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours to perform.
Neither treatment is going to give you an instant transformation. With FaceTite, you may see some initial improvements, but the full effects will develop over the next 3 to 6 months as collagen increases. After a facelift, swelling and bruising typically conceal initial results for the first month or so, when you should start to see your results develop.
A traditional facelift can last for around 10 to 15 years, depending on your age, lifestyle habits and other factors. FaceTite results can last for 5 years or more, again, depending on your age and other details.
As many perks as a nonsurgical facelift like FaceTite has, it is still important to have realistic expectations about your results. A minimally-invasive procedure is not going to be able to produce as dramatic or comprehensive results as a surgical procedure. However, many people find that the tradeoff of no surgery or extensive downtime is well worth it.
