What Is Facetite?

With time, many people develop symptoms of aging such as jowls, sagging skin, or even a double chin. While this is a completely natural process, it can be stressful to see your features change. At Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services in Ann Arbor, MI, we offer Facetite, a minimally invasive way to rejuvenate your face and neck area.

By using radiofrequency therapy, we can effectively remove unwanted fat deposits as well as tighten and tone your skin. You will look years younger without having to undergo the lengthy recovery process often associated with surgery. Read on to find out more about this innovative anti-aging approach and to see whether it could be a good fit for you.

What Facetite Does

If you’re considering a face or neck lift, you should speak to us about undergoing a minimally-invasive or nonsurgical skin tightening treatment. This approach can provide you with the same results, but it is much less invasive and therefore safer. In essence, we use radiofrequency energy to heat up your skin, which then encourages it to produce more of the vital protein, collagen.

While you will start to notice the benefits immediately because the skin contracts, the effect will continue to grow over several weeks or even months. The reason for this is that your body is doing most of the heavy lifting, and the treatment simply acts as the stimulus for these natural healing and rejuvenating processes. After 4-6 months, you will have achieved the end result.

Conditions it Can Treat

Nonsurgical skin tightening can work in most areas of the face and neck, so you can be treated if you suffer from a double chin, jowls, and sagging skin. Many of our patients appreciate that this method can also be applied to the more sensitive areas of the face like under the chin, on the jawline, lower face, and along your neck.

While the majority of people come to the clinic because they would like to minimize the effects of aging, some also want to correct other cosmetic procedures. If you’ve used another facility before coming to us and your treatment went wrong, we may be able to help smooth out the issue with radiofrequency therapy.

The Science Behind the Treatment

Collagen is one of the most important proteins in our bodies, and it is present in many different tissues. In the skin, it provides the structure for new cells to grow and can help to restore or replace old and dying cells. Unfortunately, our bodies start producing less and less of this after the age of 20. In fact, collagen production decreases by around 1% per year, and even faster in menopausal women.

With face tightening treatment, we can heat up both the superficial skin and also the tissues that lie directly under it. As a result, the fibrous network under your skin is tightened and the area is encouraged to produce more collagen. Your face and neck will regain their plump, youthful look.

Your Nonsurgical Face and Neck Tightening Appointment

Now that you know the basics, you may wonder what the treatment will entail. Fortunately, this completely nonsurgical approach doesn’t require much preparation and recovery time, so you’ll be able to return to your normal activities very quickly. Your appointment at the clinic will be short, and you can go home on the same day.

Before Your Session

To decide whether Facetite is right for you, we will invite you for a consultation with Dr. Jessica West. She can speak to you about your concerns with aging, your general health, and what treatments you have done in the past, and then determine what the best way forward is. If nonsurgical face tightening is the right option for you, we can then give you information about what to do before, during, and after treatment.

In most cases, you won’t need to do much to prepare for your session. However, we will tell you to stop taking any blood-thinning medications or supplements, so you can avoid negative side effects. We will also advise you to stop smoking, as nicotine can have a negative effect on this treatment.

The Treatment

When you come to the clinic for your session, we will first numb the treatment area to make sure you have a pleasant experience. Next, we make a small incision to insert the probe that contains the radiofrequency energy. We will pass an electrode over your skin, so the energy can be administered both from the inside and from the outside.

When we’ve completed the process, we can get you cleaned up, and you can leave the clinic. In most cases, we suggest that you bring a friend or family member who can drive you home, particularly if the treatment was on your face.

The Recovery

You won’t have to go through a lengthy recovery process like you would if you had a face or neck lift. That’s why this method is preferred by many of our patients, especially those who are experiencing mild to moderate signs of aging. Although you could walk out of the clinic and immediately resume your normal activities, you will be asked to wear a compression garment that helps speed up your recovery and allows you to achieve the results you desire.

For this reason, many people decide to take a week off from work and social engagements. However, this isn’t a requirement if you’re comfortable with using the garment in public. After two to three weeks, you will be able to start exercising again.

Maximizing Your Results

There are several things you can do to make sure your treatment has the desired effect. By focusing on eating a healthy diet, exercising on a regular basis, and avoiding harmful substances, you could enjoy your results for up to five years. In particular, we recommend that you don’t smoke, as the aging effects of nicotine are well documented. Excessive alcohol intake can also contribute to the deterioration of your skin.

Am I a Good Candidate?

There are very few factors that prevent someone from taking advantage of this innovative treatment. If you’re in good general health and want to regain smooth, and youthful facial features, you could be the perfect candidate. The best way to find out more is to visit us in Ann Arbor and speak to our knowledgeable staff.

Your Concerns with Aging

One of the first signs of aging is jowling or laxity along the jawline . You may also start to notice droopy skin on your neck. Some people develop sagging skin around the chin area or a double chin due to excess fat deposits. This fullness can be very hard to get rid of with simple diet and exercise.

All of these effects and more can be treated with nonsurgical skin tightening, so if you’re concerned about them, you should consider treatment. Over the weeks following your session with us, your symptoms will slowly start to melt away, and you will appear to grow younger instead of older.

Your General Health

Most people are eligible for treatment if they are in good general health, but certain severe conditions like cancer or circulatory disorders may preclude you from taking part. In addition, we will ask you to wait if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients of all ages can be treated with this procedure, ranging from their 20s to their 70s, depending on the facial concern.

Regain Your Youthful Glow Without Surgery

Facetite is the perfect solution for people who are looking to rejuvenate their face or neck without undergoing a big surgery. To get started, request your consultation with Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Jessica West and our expert team will be happy to welcome you to your initial appointment and discuss how you can regain your glowing features.
