What Makes BOTOX® the “King” of Injectables?

A recent report crowned BOTOX® the “king” of injectables – and for good reason. Year after year, BOTOX is the single most popular minimally invasive treatment in the country, with nearly 10 million treatments performed in the last year. Here are just a few of the top reasons why BOTOX remains a household name in cosmetic treatments in the US.

BOTOX Can Treat a Variety of Common Concerns

Unlike many other cosmetic treatments, BOTOX can treat a number of both cosmetic and medical concerns, putting it in a prime position to become the “king” of injectables each year. On the cosmetic side, BOTOX is best-known for temporarily smoothing away forehead lines and creases, “crow’s feet” at the corners of the eyes, “11s lines” between the brows and for smile lines around the mouth. It works by temporarily relaxing the facial muscle contractions that cause these dynamic expression lines to form, resulting in a smooth, youthful-looking complexion.

On the medical side, BOTOX is also commonly used to treat jaw clenching and TMJ, excessive sweating in the palms and chronic migraines

More Men Are Now Getting BOTOX

Sometimes playfully referred to as “Brotox,” BOTOX for men continues to rise in popularity each year. Last year, for example, 4.3% more men opted for neuromodulators like BOTOX than the previous year. There are a few reasons for this increase in injectable treatments for men, including a greater societal acceptance of these treatments, a greater emphasis on one’s facial appearance due to the “Zoom boom” and working from home and increasingly competitive careers.

BOTOX is also quick and easy, with most treatments taking only around 15 to 20 minutes to complete – and because it doesn’t require surgery, it also requires no downtime.

Advancing Techniques

BOTOX is arguably the best-known brand of neuromodulator injections, but many new brands have since entered the market. Dysport® is becoming more and more popular alongside BOTOX, and DAXXIFY® and Letybo® are two of the latest brands to become available.

Each of these products works in a similar way – by relaxing targeted muscles to smooth expression lines – but they differ slightly in formulation, diffusion and how long results may last. With more options than ever before, more men and women are now considering neuromodulator injections that can be custom tailored to fit their unique goals and personal preferences.

Additionally, injection techniques continue to change and improve over time. Skilled providers like Dr. West can now use more precise mapping methods and advanced microinjection techniques to achieve natural, balanced results that preserve natural facial expression rather than creating a “frozen” look. Advancements like these allow providers to achieve smoother and even more subtle enhancements for a refreshed and very natural appearance.
