This treatment is performed in our office using local anesthesia. We’ll begin by injecting an anesthetic to numb the treatment area and then make a tiny incision large enough to accommodate a small probe. The probe will heat the area just below the skin’s surface, as an electrode goes over the surface of the skin, both emitting radiofrequency heat energy.
This process results in the controlled heating of the deeper tissues below the skin, as well as the superficial surface of the skin, resulting in tightening of the fibrous network under the skin and spurring collagen production that tightens the outer layers of the skin.
Many of our patients plan to rest for a day or two following this treatment. Discomfort is minimal and only requires Tylenol or Motrin the day after treatment. Wearing a compression garment will help speed their recovery and the skin to conform to the new shape of the face and neck.
