IPL skin rejuvenation is effective on all areas of the body. Our patients most commonly want to treat areas of the skin that have received significant sun exposure, such as the face, neck, chest, legs, hands and arms.
IPL skin rejuvenation provides safe, comfortable, and effective photofacials with little to no downtime. During treatment, there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca handpiece and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from a rubber band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour.
Treatment time depends on the severity/size of skin damage, your skin type, and the type of treatment we are performing (whether focusing on vascular lesions or sun damage). You will be able to head home or back to work right after treatment.
Most patients do not experience any side effects following treatment. Your skin may be a bit red and you may feel especially sensitive to sunlight for a few hours post-treatment.
Over the first day or two after treatment, you may see a darkening of pigmented spots, but don’t worry – this is a natural part of your body’s process to remove these signs of aging after treatment. Spots and lesions will then begin to flake off, leaving behind a more even skin tone. When treating visible veins, the vein may blanch and disappear or change color and then fade out after a few days.
You can expect to see maximum results of the treatment after about 1 to 2 weeks. A series of treatments is often the best approach for most patients, and the cumulative effect of the treatments can be quite dramatic. After a series of IPL photofacials, you can have remarkably clearer skin.
