Acne Scar Treatments

What’s worse than acne? Acne scars. When your acne finally heals, the last thing you need is a daily, permanent, and visible reminder of your pat. However, we have good news. You may feel like your scars are here to stay, but acne scars don’t have to be permanent. At Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services in Ann Arbor, MI, we offer different acne scar treatments, including Morpheus8, that can erase those scars and help you get beautiful scar-free skin.

Our Acne Scar Treatments

At Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services, we have several different options that can help erase your acne scars and, bonus, help improve the overall appearance of your skin.
There are different types of scars. Some patients have scars covering the surface of their skin, while others only have a few, which play a part in what treatment options are best for you.

Morpheus8

Any treatment that can increase collagen can help improve the appearance of acne scars. Morpheus8 is a form of collagen induction therapy that involves microneedling and the distribution of fractionated RF energy to the skin. Both of these processes work together to stimulate the body’s collagen production to improve the appearance of acne scars.

Microneedling creates tiny injuries on the surface of the acne scar, and over time, the body heals those injuries with increased collagen in the scar. Collagen plumps the skin that contains the scar, greatly diminishing its appearance. Morpheus8 can be performed once a month until the desired results appear.

It takes the body approximately one month to make new collagen, and visible results will appear at that time and will improve over the next few months.

Am I a Candidate?

To determine if this treatment is the best option to treat and correct your acne scars, we will need to examine your scars in person during an initial consultation. If you are a candidate for a Morpheus8 treatment, we will develop a treatment plan that is right for you, inclusive of the necessary number of treatments to get you the results you’re looking for.

CO2 Laser

CO2 Laser is a laser treatment that uses a gas mixture that contains 20% carbon dioxide in a powerful laser beam of light to remove the top layer of the skin. In doing so, it can improve the appearance of acne scars. Collagen production will increase in the treatment area to heal the skin from the perceived injury.

After you undergo this treatment, you’ll see some immediate improvements and your acne scars will continue to improve for up to six months post-treatment.

The benefit of this particular laser is that it can be isolated to treat your acne scars without affecting the surrounding skin. If you don’t want to treat your entire face, we can focus the laser on your acne scars to give you the results you’re looking for. Most patients see anywhere from a 50 to 70 percent improvement in their acne scars after the treatment.

Am I a Candidate?

An initial consultation with one of our experts will help determine if a CO2 Laser treatment is right for you. Once we analyze your skin and your scars, we’ll confirm whether or not you’re a candidate for the CO2 Laser and give you more details on what you can expect after your treatment.

Dermal Fillers

Many people have acne scars that have caused depressions or pockmarks on the face. Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® can “fill in” these surface irregularities, leaving you with a smoother complexion that lasts for months. After injection, you’ll see immediate improvements in the appearance of acne scars.

Am I a Candidate?

Dermal fillers can be an effective treatment option for depressed or indented acne scars. In conjunction with other treatments, they can address additional concerns like other types of scarring, skin discoloration, or raised scars. At your consultation, we will evaluate your skin concerns and walk you through which treatments will be most effective for your needs.

Say Goodbye To Your Acne Scars

You don’t have to be defined by your acne scars. There are many different ways to improve their appearance and eventually erase them. The first step in the process is to schedule a consultation so that one of our experts can examine your skin and recommend a treatment plan that will help you get the skin you may have never thought possible. After experiencing one of these treatments, you’ll finally be able to say goodbye to your acne scars for good.
