Volume loss within the face is a common concern many men and women struggle with as they get older. With age, your face begins to lose essential fat, collagen, and elastin, which can result in various signs of aging such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or a gaunt appearance. Dermal fillers offer a great way to replenish lost volume for immediate, natural-looking, and long-lasting results and minimal downtime.
We would love to speak with you about your unique aesthetic goals and concerns. What Are Dermal Fillers?
A dermal filler is an injectable treatment that is used to replenish volume that has been lost within specific areas of the face. Certain fillers are also able to treat other areas of the body, such as the hands. With a wide range of fillers available, Dr. West can help you choose the best filler for you based on your skin condition and your unique goals and concerns. We have additional material on the most frequently asked questions about fillers.
Available Dermal Fillers
Juvéderm® Collection of Fillers
Juvéderm is the #1 collection of dermal fillers, featuring different products to help address your specific concerns. These fillers utilize hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that occurs naturally in the body, to help add instant volume beneath the skin. Juvéderm fillers can be used to treat lines, wrinkles, and volume loss in common problem areas of the face, including the cheeks and around the nose and mouth (Vollure™ and traditional Juvéderm), as well as to add fullness to the lips (Volbella® or Ultra®). Voluma® can even provide you with a subtle, natural-looking lift in the cheek and midface region.
Restylane®
Restylane is another HA-based filler designed to replenish facial volume for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. This filler also reacts with the water molecules beneath your skin, providing you with ongoing improvements and added volume over the initial few days after your treatment. In addition to restoring volume lost in the face and lips, Dr. West can also use Restylane for the earlobes and to add fullness back to the hands.
Liquid Facelift (Non-Surgical Facelift)
Dr. West’s liquid facelift can be customized based on your specific needs in order to provide you with a complete rejuvenation of your face without having to undergo surgery. Known as our V Lift, this non-surgical alternative to the facelift will provide you with maximum correction of lines, wrinkles, and volume loss with little to no time off work.
How the V Lift Liquid Facelift Works
- Dynamic lines and wrinkles (laugh lines, frown lines, crow’s feet) are softened with Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport® and Juveau®
- Volume loss and moderate to severe facial lines, wrinkles, and folds are filled in with a personalized combination of facial fillers
Dermal Filler Benefits
Dermal fillers are great for helping to instantly restore volume and treat common concerns including:
- General volume loss in the face and cheeks
- Nasolabial folds (the “parentheses lines” around the nose and mouth)
- Smile lines
- Marionette lines
- Thin lips
- A bony appearance of the hands caused by a loss of volume/fat
Dr. West will recommend the right filler based on your unique concerns and goal outcomes.
Ideal Candidates for Dermal FIllers
Fillers are a great option for men and women who are wanting to address volume loss in specific areas of the face that are causing lines, wrinkles, or a generally older appearance. With different filler options available, Dr. West will be able to recommend your ideal filler based on the condition of your skin and your unique goals and concerns.
For the treatment of dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet or frown lines, we recommend the injectable toxins Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport® and Juveau® instead. You may also benefit from a combination of these injectables with fillers.
In some cases, facial surgery may be a better option for treating more severe signs of aging or skin sagging. You will be able to discuss your various options and ask any questions you may have during your consultation with Dr. West.
Dermal Filler Recovery and Follow Up
There is very little recovery period associated with filler treatments. Some minor bruising or swelling is to be expected, but this will generally fade within the first week after your treatment. The degree of bruising and swelling can vary from person to person, and is also dependent on the area being injected. You will be able to resume your normal routine as soon as your filler session at Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services is completed.
If you experience any excessive pain, swelling, or unexpected allergic reactions, please contact us immediately.
Dermal Filler Results
The results of your filler treatment will be immediately noticeable. In some cases, your results may appear a bit fuller than expected at first due to swelling – however, this will quickly dissipate. Depending on your filler, your results can last for anywhere from one to five years. Smaller touch-up treatments can be performed to maintain a youthful appearance as you continue to age gracefully.
The Cost of Fillers
The cost of your filler treatment will vary based on the type(s) and amount of filler used. You will be provided with a detailed estimate for your filler treatment based on the various items discussed during your consultation. We are more than happy to discuss the different payment and financing options available at Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services.
