Non-Surgical Treatments

3 Cosmetic Treatments to Greet Spring with a Fresh Face

You’ve done your spring cleaning at home, tidied up your garden, brought out your summer wardrobe, and booked some summer getaways. All set on your spring checklist? Not quite! Make sure to carve out some time in the next couple of months for yourself and your skin.

The Michigan Center for Cosmetic Services offers a full range of today’s most popular and effective non-surgical aesthetic treatments. Dr. West is more than happy to meet with you, review your skin concerns, and guide you on the best treatment options. Here are 3 of the most popular services at our office this time of year!

Fractional CO2 Laser

Also known as a CO2 laser peel, this treatment does much more than remove dull, dry and damaged surface layers of skin. The fractional laser reaches deep to renew your skin from within.

What exactly does “fractional” mean? Well, think of your hair brush. It has a number of bristles that are all spaced apart on the head of the brush. Now imagine that those bristles are actually beams of laser energy, and the space surrounding them is layers of your skin. This is the core idea of how a fractional laser works – some areas of the skin are exposed to the laser microbeams (the bristles) and some aren’t.

It might sound like the result would be a weird pattern of rejuvenation in your skin. Not at all. By exposing only a portion of the skin in the treatment area to the laser energy, you actually trigger your body’s natural healing response without causing serious damage. And you know what’s a core part of that natural healing response? Collagen and elastin fibers, essential components of healthy and youthful-looking skin.

Dr. West uses CO2 laser peels to treat a range of common skin concerns, including:

  • Age spots and sun damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Skin laxity
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne Scars
  • Textural irregularities, including rough patches
  • Dull skin
  • Enlarged pores

Lumecca® IPL

IPL stands for intense pulsed light – like a laser, but not quite. Exposing the skin to this light energy encourages the breakdown of many skin irregularities and blemishes, including:

  • Red and brown age spots
  • Rosacea (skin redness)
  • Spider veins
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Sun damage

Lumecca IPL can work like a “magic eraser” on areas of the skin that receive significant sun exposure, such as the face, neck, chest, arms and legs. After a series of treatments, you can enjoy a remarkably more even skin tone and complexion.

Injectables (Fillers and BOTOX®)

OK, you caught us – dermal fillers and BOTOX Cosmetic are pretty darn popular all year round. But given how fast they work and how long they last, they can be a perfect pick-me-up before you head off on a vacation getaway or to see friends and family this summer.

After reviewing areas of wrinkling and volume loss on your face, Dr. West can advise you on a combination of BOTOX and filler treatments to create a naturally smoother skin tone. This “one-two punch” of injectable treatments can knock out a range of common signs of aging, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Creases between your eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sunken or hollow cheeks
  • Marionette lines
  • Smile/laugh lines
  • Thin lips

Now is your time for a spring refresh. To learn more about any of the treatments discussed here and get personalized guidance on your best options for cosmetic enhancement, call our Ann Arbor office at 734-971-0262 or contact us online to schedule a consultation with Dr. West.
