BOTOX® Stopped Working? Here’s What to Try

Do you feel as though you’re no longer seeing the same level of BOTOX® results as you once did? While developing a resistance to BOTOX is possible, it is relatively rare, with fewer than 1.5% of patients showing clinical evidence of true BOTOX resistance.

However, there are many reasons why you might not be as satisfied with your BOTOX results as you once were. If this is the case for you, consider trying these options to start loving your anti-aging treatment results again.

1. Try a Different Dosage

If you are using a new BOTOX provider, it is possible that he or she erred a little light on the dosage and you may just need to ask for some small adjustments to be made at your next appointment. An inexperienced provider may use the incorrect dosage or dilution, which can also throw off your results. Be sure you do your due diligence when choosing a BOTOX provider to ensure they are properly trained and qualified. Dr. West has over a decade of experience administering BOTOX and knows how to consistently achieve excellent results.

2. Try a Different Neuromodulator

If you haven’t changed providers but feel that you no longer see the same level of results, ask your provider about trying a different brand of botulinum toxin, like Dysport®. All FDA-approved brands of neuromodulator injections contain the same active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, and all work the same way. The only variance is in the formulation. Results should not be dramatically different from one brand to the next, but there are subtle differences in the way the products take effect, which may lead you to favoring one versus the other.

If you still have questions about BOTOX or to schedule a consultation to discuss your specific needs and goals with our experienced providers, call our Ann Arbor office at 734-971-0262 or get in touch online.
